Bloomers

Bloomers is a Cork-based publisher supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.

Founded in 2018, Bloomers initially released two issues of Bloomers Magazine each year, focusing on elevating early-career artists. In 2021, they ceased production of the magazine and evolved into a dynamic independent publishing collective, working with artists and writers across Ireland to produce a wide range of projects, including exhibitions, talks, journals, anthologies, and other printed works. Their projects straddle visual art and literature, often collaborating with visual artists to help expand their practice through publishing.

To date, Bloomers has published 14 books and collaborated with over 200 Ireland-based artists, writers, and activists. Their publications explore themes such as diasporic ancestry, housing, the body, architecture, digital culture, mythology, and the history and contemporary landscape of independent publishing in Ireland, among others, always from a feminist ethos. Bloomers' books are available in 12 stockists across Ireland and the UK.

As a non-profit collective, Bloomers remains dedicated to fostering creativity and supporting the growth of artists and writers in Ireland.
